It has been quite a ride for three musicians out of Central Texas.
As of 12-18-06 the song "So Long, Texas-Hello, Mexico" has spread across
the nation much to the delight of thousands of fans. We have had over
100,000 visitors to our website since Sept. 16th. Mike, Rita and I have
enjoyed the ride immensely. What began in July as a musical venture for
three old musical friends has far surpassed our wildest dreams !
Rita and I have been interviewed on CBS, NBC and ABC affiliates in Waco.
KTVT Ch. 11 in Dallas-Fort Worth taped a Johnny Tex and the Texicans
dance and interview that was broadcast on Oct. 10th. Later that night
the CBS Overnight News broadcast the story worldwide. The Daily Show
with Jon Stewart made mention of the song. I have been interviewed on
such notable radio talk shows as the Kevin Wall Show on WLAC in
Nashville, Ernie and Ray on KRLD in Dallas and the Lynn Wooley Show and
the Lars Larsen Show. The Waco Tribune Herald has done two feature
stories and we were on the front page of the San Antonio Express on
Sept. 20th. CNN's Lou Dobbs added a link on 9-14-06 about the song and
it's still there! We especially thank the Texas Minutemen and ALIPAC for
their help in getting word spread around Texas and the nation.
The recent inclusion of our song on the nationally distributed November
CDX compilation to over 1,000 radio stations in the U.S. was greatly
appreciated. While it is difficult to know exactly how many stations are
playing the song, we estimate that "So Long, Texas-Hello, Mexico" is
being played in nearly half the states in the nation and 3 or 4 foreign
countries.
We thank all the good folks who have supported us and bought our song.
We are working on the album "Life's Too Short Not To Live in Texas"and
expect to have it available in a couple of months.
Watch this site for information on the album and other Johnny Tex and
the Texicans merchandise. Thank you for your support from deep in the
Heart of Texas,
Johnny Tex
